At the Rosen Lab, our mission is to improve identification, intervention, and prevention of elder mistreatment in healthcare settings including the Emergency Department and to improve acute, unscheduled emergency healthcare for older adults.
We are a collaborative, multidisciplinary research and clinical team devoted to improving care for vulnerable older adults. We work closely together and with collaborators across the US and internationally to conduct a broad range of clinical research projects exploring elder mistreatment and geriatric emergency medicine. We are exploring injury patterns and forensic markers in physical elder abuse, health care utilization in older adults experiencing mistreatment, and developing a novel screening protocol for caregiver neglect among older adults with dementia. Our work is also focused on developing, sustaining, and disseminating innovative interventions for elder mistreatment in the ED and hospital.
