Older adult-specific guidance on sedation of agitated patients in the prehospital setting is absent from most state EMS protocols -- and the most commonly recommended sedative medication was midazolam, which can cause delirium and have other adverse effects in older adults -- pleased to contribute to work recently published in Journal of the American Geriatrics Society (JAGS) led by Josh Lachs that highlights this important gap and opportunity to improve care. Excited to continue this work with him and co-authors Rana Barghout, William Haussner, David Hancock, Emily Benton, Maia Dorsett, Greg Peters, Rebecca Cash, and Joe Holley.
