I enjoyed recently meeting with our Weill Cornell Medicine Geriatrics/Palliative Care fellows and Sarah Perelman, MD at ArchCare’s Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home (down the block from NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center) to discuss the complex payment structures that fund long term care, home-based care and post-acute rehabilitation. I think it's really important for medical providers to understand how healthcare for older adults is funded, as it can have an impact on our treatment decisions and recommendations for patients and families.
