ED/hospital-based elder mistreatment response teams have the potential to impact the acute care provided to vulnerable older adults and to support busy frontline providers. Thank you very much to the American Geriatrics Society Elder Mistreatment Special Interest Group for inviting Elizabeth Bloemen, MD, MPH and me to discuss our teams, Vulnerable Elder Services, Protection, and Advocacy (VESPA) at University of Colorado Anschutz and the Vulnerable Elder Protection Team (VEPT) at Weill Cornell Medicine. We highlighted similarities and differences between the two teams. Thanks to everyone who attended, and thanks so much to Carrie Rubenstein, Julia Hiner, and Ashley Evans for developing and leading the session -- and for facilitating a great conversation.
