VEPT presented at the AGS Geriatrics Models of Care Collaborative

Great job, Daniel Baek, MPH, presenting recently at the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) Geriatrics Models of Care Collaborative about the long-term trajectories of older adults served by our ED/hospital-based elder mistreatment response program, the Vulnerable Elder Protection Team (VEPT)! )! It is exciting that the program evaluation work he has led has found improved post-discharge safety for elder mistreatment victims who engaged with VEPT, with this increased safety durable over 1 year. Additionally, re-presentations highlighted the complexity of elder mistreatment intervention. Thanks to all of the co-authors who contributed to this program evaluation: Elaine Gottesman, Lena Makaroun, Alyssa Elman, Michael Stern MD, Amy Shaw, Mary Mulcare, Jennine McAuley, Veronica LoFaso, Jaclyn Itzkowitz, PA-C, Iggy E-Shien Chang, PhD, MA, David Hancock, Elizabeth Bloemen, MD, MPH, Daniel Lindberg, Rahul Sharma, MD, MBA, FACEP, Mark Lachs, and Karl Pillemer.

Dr. Sandeep Pagali gave a thoughtful expert response, and participants had excellent questions. Congratulations as well to Dr. Andrea Wershof Schwartz whose amazing work at the VA was also featured, and thank you to facilitators and AGS Special Interest Group co-chairs Priscilla Yee and Caitlin Jones.
