The SIRENS project (Screening and Intervention to Reduce Elder Neglect Study) is focused on developing and assessing the impact of a novel primary care screening tool to identify elder neglect in patients with dementia and a point-of-care technology-driven intervention for caregivers. It was great to present recently with colleagues Mark Lachs and Sara Czaja at the Weill Cornell Medicine GeriPal Grand Rounds about how this effort is progressing including important contributions from our many collaborators (Amy Shaw, Sophie Park, Sasya Uppugonduri, Jerad Moxley, David Hancock, Karl Pillemer, Iggy E-Shien Chang, PhD, MA, Kristin Lees Haggerty, David Burnes, Alyssa Elman, Elaine Gottesman, Daniel Baek, MPH, Brady Rippon, and Will Simmons)!
Thanks also to Jeffrey Mayer, who covered the area in which I was working in the ED while I presented!
You can learn more about early stages of this work and from our protocol on developing a screening tool and intervention strategy.
